Productivity, health and safety are key factors at the workplace. It’s a good thing that these are proven to be positively influenced by adequate workplace conditions. These conditions also include lighting. That is why particular importance was attached to the lighting concept when designing the new workplaces for the injection molding of optical components at Jenoptik Polymer Systems in Triptis. The employees recognized the following to be key to this focus: If the lighting conditions at the workplace could be flexibly adjusted to the respective requirements of the task and the individual visibility needs of the employees, the error, reject and complaint rates could be significantly reduced. The right light for everyone As part of a call for bids, the Schwenningen-based luminaire manufacturer Waldmann convinced Jenoptik with its TWIN-C solution’s ergonomics, occupational safety and customization options. The lighting expert’s concept is based on the right combination of lighting components to ideally fulfill the individual lighting requirements. One lighting concept, many options The Waldmann lighting concept for Jenoptik consists of two components: The SAMC system luminaire and the ST 124 arm-mounted luminaire. The system luminaire’s two 36-watt compact fluorescent lamps and aluminumized parabolic louvres enable a glare-free and even illumination of the desk. In cooperation with the manufacturer of the workplace system, it was attached to a top beam so that it can be moved back and forth along a rail. Furthermore, the luminaire’s axis can be rotated by 90 degrees in both directions. In addition, the arm-mounted luminaire with a 24-watt compact fluorescent lamp and aluminumized parabolic louvre ensures a glare-free illumination of the respective tasks. Because a precise light is a must for the separation of the tiny lenses from the injection-molded part or for their cleaning and quality inspection. Roller blinds that are specially integrated in the workplaces influence the contrast and enable an additional fine-tuning of the lighting conditions. This is a key prerequisite for the safe and error-free assessment of optical components. Proven improvements thanks to optimized light Ultimately, taking employee wishes into consideration has led to measurable success: Since the introduction of the new system workplaces with an integrated Waldmann lighting concept, the complaint rate has been significantly reduced. The same goes for the reject rate as the new lighting concept enables the easy identification of even minimal errors. Thanks to the improved ergonomics of the workplaces, less employees are taking time off due to illness. And the employees themselves are also satisfied with the new workplaces as they actively contributed to their design. |
