Environmental Management

Environmental Management of Herbert Waldmann GmbH & Co. KG

Ecology and economy are not opposing concepts in our company – we regard them as equivalent. Actively practiced environmental protection is thus an integral part of our activity and a permanent commitment. Indeed, environmental policy is a fundamental component of our company policy. The certification to DIN EN ISO 14001 confirms our environmental management. You can find the certificate in the downlaod area.

The basic principles of our environmental management system are:

1. Exercise of environmentally conscious behavior in all areas
We take the concept of environmental protection seriously in all business processes and organizational units and are constantly aware of our environmentally oriented activities. The crux of our efforts, whether in managerial processes or elsewhere, is the continuous improvement of our measures for environment protection, while carefully weighing the individual aspects and the expectations of our customers, the public as well as the owner.

2. Compliance with and implementation of laws and regulations
We've committed ourselves to comply with all relevant laws and regulations and cooperate with the responsible authorities, institutions and experts at all times. We make sure that state-of-the-art technology is obtained and used appropriately and that the current environmental regulations are made available to persons of responsibility in the company and adhered to.

3. Accomplishment of our environmental goals
Our environmental goals are, among others, the avoidance of waste and emissions as well as the saving of resources. Measures are taken on the one hand to reduce waste, residual substances, emissions, noise pollution and sewage to a minimum, and on the other, to conserve energy, raw materials and other natural resources.

4. Responsibilities and training of internal and external employees
Environmental protection is an important executive duty. Supervisors and employees alike work together responsibly in the daily implementation of environment protection measures. At Waldmann, the responsibilities involved in the realization of the environmental management system are clearly structured and communicated.
Training and motivation towards environmentally conscious behavior at work is another central element of the environmental management system at Waldmann. Not only are internal employees regularly trained in environmentally relevant topics but also external employees working on our behalf are obligated to comply with our environmental policy.

5. Communication with customers and the public
Every Waldmann customer has the right to know for certain he has purchased an environmentally compatible product. We therefore inform clearly and explicitly about the environmental aspects of our products with regard to handling, application, return, recycling and disposal.

6. Environmentally compatible products and processes
When new products are developed and new production processes introduced, they are carefully checked for environmentally critical substances and methods. The system is examined as a whole in order to avoid simply shifting environmental problems to other areas. Not only do our own internal processes play a role here, but the collective accountability of our suppliers and contractors as well. We use the knowledge and experience gained to develop suitable, up-to-date organizational and technical measures, including the required documentation.

7. Emergency preparedness and measures to avert danger
We don't wait until it's too late to take action, but consider the possible risks and dangers already before an actual emergency situation occurs. To help avoid mishaps and their possible adverse effects on the environment, all employees receive training in emergency preparedness and danger minimization. Moreover, our company-internal fire brigade regularly carries out live simulations of different emergency situations. In due consideration of all economic aspects, we use the best available technology so that possible sources of danger are reduced to a minimum.

8. Performance audits
The effects of our environmentally critical facilities are regularly checked. Management has committed itself to maintain the environmental management system in its present form, to ensure that negative effects on the environment are completely avoided or largely minimized and that the environmental goals are accomplished.
