About Coloriet

Coloriet is a specialist in the life of senior citizens in Lelystad, Dronten and Zeewolde. Its philosophy is to enable residents of these three towns to live in their familiar environment for as long as possible. Specialist care is how this is accomplished. The Coloriet group has about 1100 residents and their family members, more than 1000 employees and 500 voluntary helpers. Coloriet has three care homes as well as a care & treatment centre.

The village within the village

The Sfinx foundation was established in March 2016 to support the quality of life of the elderly residents of Zeewolde for as long as possible. The residential centre, Coloriet de Sfinx, is located in the centre of Zeewolde, and is a small but openly laid out village. The care centre has a colourful garden and is only a short distance away from retail businesses and public transport links.

The care home was extended in 2017 by a further 28 rental apartments and 16 support units for people with dementia. Each of the residential units for people suffering from dementia has a private single room. The residents share a common living room and kitchen. The atmosphere is pleasant and warm.

VIVAA VTL and DOTOO.fit

In 2017 the residential areas for dementia sufferers were renovated. The VIVAA suspended luminaire was installed in the shared residential areas, and the DOTOO.fit recessed luminaire was installed in the corridors.

Supporting the daily structure

To ensure that residents feel good, and to support their day-night rhythm, the VIVAA interior luminaire was equipped with a special daylight management system known as Visual Timing Light (or VTL for short). VTL was developed more than ten years ago, specifically for care for the elderly, and it is a lighting system along the lines of Human Centric Lighting. It supports the daily structure in a natural way by carefully controlling the biological impact of light colours, illuminance value and the angle at which light is delivered. In the morning, fresh, daylight-white light provides energising impulses. In the course of the day, the light colour and illuminance value alter gradually, reflecting the progression of natural sunlight. As the afternoon progresses, the light becomes warmer and more dimmed. This prepares the body for its rest phase.

Positive experience

Care staff report that the residents in the residential community for dementia sufferers are more relaxed. It has also been observed that the residents are more active during the day, and find it easier to rest in the evening.
