FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions?
What is AMBIO-Technology?

AMBIO is a glare-free technology developed by Waldmann that is precisely customized for fi elds of application in architecture and used exclusively in Waldmann products.

What is IEF?

Illuminance Effi ciency Factor = Illuminance Em at a measuring distance of 50 cm [lx] / consumption [W]

What do Em and Emax stand for?

The specifications Em = Medium illuminance and Emax = Maximum illuminance are the result of laboratory measurements at 25 ° C with a burned-in lamp (Waldmann standard) in a closed, black room. These values can therefore differ at the installation site due to measuring tolerances and other environmental conditions.

What does CDP mean?

Conical De-glaring Prism. Glare-free technology with light-amplifying micro prisms.

What does DALI mean?

Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, interface for lighting direction in accordance with IEC 62386. Waldmann is a member of the DALI consortium.

What is EnOcean Alliance?

The EnOcean Alliance supports innovative automation solutions with battery-free wireless technology for sustainable
building projects in order to make buildings more energy efficient, flexible, and cost-effective. Waldmann is a participating member of the EnOcean Alliance.

What is color temperature?

The color temperature, measured in Kelvin, represents the color impression of a light source.

• Warm white < 3,300 K

• Neutral white 3,300 – 5,000 K

• Daylight white / cool white > 5,000 K

What is color reproduction?

The maximum value Ra = 100 corresponds to the natural color reproduction of sunlight. Poor color reproduction values for lamps have a negative impact on contrast sensitivity (e.g. for surface inspections, quality inspections, precision work). The colors also look unnatural. Lamps with a minimum color reproduction value of 80 should therefore be used where high / maximum requirements exist for these two features.

What does luminance mean ?

Over 65° beam angle in accordance with EN12464-1:2011:

≤ 1 000 cd / m² monitor with negative polarity, higher requirements e.g. Colour proofing

≤ 1 500 cd / m² monitor with negative polarity, higher requirements e.g. CAD

≤ 3 000 cd / m² monitor with positive polarity, normal requirements e.g. Office applications

What is Light Forming Technology?

With this technology, the punctiform lighting characteristic of LEDs is transformed into extremely homogeneous area light. This new development from Waldmann ensures optimum glare-free lighting.

What is LUM CONNECT?

LUM CONNECT is the Plug & Light light management system of Waldmann. In addition to the biodynamic light with LUM CONNECT VTL, our luminaires are equipped with extended functions to enhance the user convenience and to increase the energy efficiency: LUM CONNECT offers different functions for an intelligent control of luminaires.

LUM CONNECT VTL
Simulation of the natural course of daylight with the corresponding colour temperature and illuminance

LUM CONNECT TALK
Retrofittable wireless module for communication between luminaires

LUM CONNECT CONFIG
App for the parameterisation and configuration of luminaires with wireless module

LUM CONNECT MANAGE
Presence and daylight-depending light management system with sensors

What does UGR stand for?

Unified Glare Rating, limiting values for the assessment of reflective glare according to LiTG publication 20:2003

What does Zhaga mean?

Zhaga is a consortium of industrial enterprises with the goal of standardizing the interfaces of LED light modules.
