MANN+HUMMEL GmbH has its headquarters in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg. With more than 20,000 employees and over 70 locations worldwide, it is one of the largest suppliers in the automotive supply and mechanical engineering industry. The new technology centre in Ludwigsburg is a striking corner building with a curved facade and a lot of glass. The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new building took place on 12th September 2014. The building is 24,000 square metres in size and costs approx. 30 million euros. The architectural competition for the technology centre selected the renowned architecture company KBK from Stuttgart. After three years of planning and construction, the key was ceremonially handed over on the 75th anniversary of MANN+HUMMEL. The building provides space for 450 employees. One huge advantage of the new technology centre are the short distances. In the offices, the aim was to implement a high feel-good factor of the employees and a great flexibility in all workplaces. Ultra modern group workplaces ensure transparent work processes and options for open communication in the new building. In addition, the offices consist of open-plan spaces. Numerous small meeting rooms enable small groups to conduct undisturbed deep conversations and discuss various work topics.

When constructing the new technology centre in the Schwieberdinger Straße, MANN+HUMMEL GmbH focused particularly on modern and innovative technologies. The building has a special spatial geometry because of its unique architecture. Due to this fact, the company expressed the wish to have an extremely long luminaire head for LAVIGO. A LAVIGO free-standing luminaire with non-standard dimensions could be created in close cooperation between Waldmann and MANN+HUMMEL. Thus, the most powerful member of the LAVIGO free-standing luminaire family to-date was developed and used in the offices. The result was a particularly powerful radiance. Another factor which speaks for Waldmann is the light quality. Therefore, for MANN+HUMMEL, it was very important that uniformity was guaranteed with the lighting. Waldmann meets all these expectations fully and completely. The LAVIGO free-standing luminaire is impressive because of its first-class design and intelligent technology which brings high light quality directly to the workplace. In addition, the direct and indirect components of light can be dimmed separately and allow for an individual setting of the lighting. Another plus point is that the multi-functional operating element is easy to reach.
