German Design Award for LAVIGO

Award for Waldmann's free-standing luminaire for biologically effective light

German Design Award 2017
Free-Standing Luminaire LAVIGO PULSE VTL

Villingen-Schwenningen, March 2017: Waldmann has received the German Design Award 2017 for the LAVIGO free-standing luminaire designed by Jürgen Schubert in combination with the light management System PULSE VTL for biologically effective lighting at the office workplace.

The lighting is guided by the dynamics of natural daylight, thus supporting a person's internal clock. To this end, the indirect light component of the LAVIDO free-standing luminaire imitates the natural course of daylight passing through different light colours in a fixed control curve. Depending on the daytime, this sets natural pulses, starting with activation in the morning through higher blue components in the light. This has a positive effect on performance, but also, in particular, on well-being at the workplace. The direct component at 4000 Kelvin has a neutral light colour. The user can switch and dim this component according to his needs. This produces optimum visual comfort at the workplace. The system works autonomously, without requiring connection to the building management.

The German Design Award is the international premium award of the German Design Council. Its goal is to discover, present and award unique design trends. This is why every year high-quality contributions from the field of product and communication design are awarded, all of which are pioneering in the international design landscape in their own way. The German Design Award launched in 2012 is one of the most renowned design competitions worldwide and is highly regarded far beyond professional circles.
