Revitalisation for the future

Hapag Lloyd office landscape with Waldmann Smart Office luminaires

An existing office building in Hamburg's Rosenstrasse has been successfully transformed into a contemporary working environment for the tenant Hapag-Lloyd that will also meet future requirements. Part of the flexible office environment are the smart and adaptable Yara free-standing luminaires from Waldmann.

High-quality working environment tailored to employees' needs
The office property is a Hapag Lloyd pilot project for innovative office and work forms. An attractive multi-space for IT was realised by pbr Planungsbüro Rohling AG, which supports the work processes in the best possible way by taking into account the everyday office and life of the employees.
Individual offices have been dispensed with. Nevertheless, there are single workstations and retreats for focussed work. In line with the activity-based working approach, spacious areas for collaboration and regeneration such as a bistro, kitchenette and even a small gym have also been integrated. All rooms and the high-quality equipment are flexibly designed. Technology supports communication and gives employees the freedom to change their work location as required.

Not just light, but smart

The workstations can be booked via a booking system. Thanks to the YARA H variant, each employee has their own luminaire head at the desks, which creates standardised and ergonomic lighting conditions. The luminaires not only provide excellent lighting, but also measure air quality, noise levels and temperature. This environmental data is transmitted to the building automation system so that a feel-good atmosphere prevails in the offices at all times.

The sensors in the luminaires also measure the actual utilisation of the workstations. The more you know about a building and its utilisation, the more flexibly and efficiently this knowledge can be used for day-to-day operations and the optimal design of the space. Thanks to standardised digital interfaces, the data from the sensors can be used for both building operation and office management.

If there are changes in requirements, it is particularly easy to make adjustments to the smart luminaires. For example, parameters such as the lumen output of the luminaires for energy savings can be reduced simultaneously for all luminaires via an update.

„We wanted the best light for our employees in a highly attractive and modern working environment. With YARA, we also benefit from the advantages of integrated sensor technology and digital interfaces." Kai Borstelmann, Director Global Procurement, Hapag-Lloyd AG
